Tastings – Winter Spring 2019
New World vs Old World
Tuesday 2nd April - £35
We kick off Batonnage’s public tasting series with a bang! What better way to understand grapes, locations and terroir than to compare and contrast. Join us for an evening pitting classic regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, Piedmont and Rioja against new world upstarts. Which region will come out on top? The first chance to find out what our years of experience running tastings look like in our new beautiful bar.
Negotiations… Bordeaux and it’s copy cats
Tuesday 7th May
Bordeaux has more in common with stock markets and financial piety than pure wine enjoyment, but we aim to put the fun back in cru bourgeois! Behind the layers of merchants, negociants and courtiers are hidden gems often giving the holy grail of “value for money drinking” not often common from such a revered wine region. We will throw in some copy cat wines from other country’s trying to replicate the hallow wines of the Garonne to see how they compare.
Pinot Noir And Friends Tuesday 4th June - £35
Over the centuries this complex, difficult, but oh-so sexy grape has ventured to many corners of the globe, fathered scores of children, and even been forced into shotgun unions with other varieties. To celebrate this fabulous life story we are gathering together the Pinot family, friends and various hangers-on. On the guest list are reds, whites and fizz made from Pinot Noir, plus a supporting cast of wines related to or just influenced by the evening’s main attraction.
All tastings start at 7pm in the mezzanine area, last approximately two hours and are guided sit down tastings of approximately 6-7 wines. Cheese and charcuterie accompany the tastings. Tickets to be purchased in advance - cancellations within two days of the tasting date can not be refunded.
